The High Court of Bangladesh has released a 112-page written judgment regarding the 2019 murder of madrasah student Nusrat Jahan Rafi. In its detailed ruling, the bench consisting of Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja expressed strong disapproval of the original trial judge, Mamunur Rashid. The High Court stated that the judge, who had sentenced 16 individuals to death for the fatal burning of the student, demonstrated a lack of judicial sensitivity. The appellate court characterized the lower tribunal's approach as imprudent and irresponsible, noting that such conduct is inappropriate for a civilized legal system. This full verdict follows the High Court's initial decision delivered on August 24, which addressed the death references and subsequent appeals filed by the convicted parties involved in the high-profile case in Feni.
