Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn announced that government contractors are responsible for covering all repair expenses related to structural issues found in the redeveloped Clinical Block 1 at Queen Mary Hospital. Recent reports identified errors in the external walls of elevator shafts, which caused the structures to tilt and potentially hindered the proper functioning of lift systems. These technical faults have necessitated remedial work, leading to delays in the facility's full operational reopening. Linn stated that the administration maintains the authority to pursue further compensation from the involved contractors and subcontractors for the defective construction. The government is currently addressing these structural shortcomings to ensure the safety and efficiency of the hospital's infrastructure.
