A legislative session in the Jatiya Sangsad turned chaotic on Wednesday following comments made by independent lawmaker Rumeen Farhana. During the deliberation of the Bank Resolution (Amendment) Bill, Farhana criticized the past administration of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, which prompted immediate and vocal opposition from ruling party members. The resulting commotion briefly halted standard parliamentary operations. Amidst the heated exchanges, Farhana claimed that she was targeted with verbal harassment by other attendees. Farhana, who formerly held a reserved seat as a BNP representative in the 11th parliament, is currently serving as an independent member. The incident highlights ongoing political tensions within the national assembly as lawmakers debated legislative reforms.
