Israeli military radio has expressed apprehension regarding the potential seizure of the strategic al-Makha port in Yemen by local armed forces. According to these reports, gaining control over this coastal facility would grant Yemeni forces enhanced influence over the Bab el-Mandeb strait. Analysts suggest that such a development could establish a significant maritime chokepoint at the Red Sea entrance, potentially enabling the monitoring of naval traffic and the implementation of blockades affecting Saudi Arabia, the Suez Canal, and the port of Eilat. While unconfirmed reports suggest that Yemeni forces may already have secured the port located in the western Taiz province, the situation remains a point of focus for Israeli media due to its implications for regional maritime security and trade routes.
