The inaugural Lichchhavi Cinema Festival is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from September 10 to 14. Organized by the Lichchhavi House arts center with backing from the European Union and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the event seeks to foster connections between local and global filmmaking communities. Attendees will be able to view ten curated feature films projected using professional DCP technology. The program highlights significant works, including the Cannes award-winning Nepali production "Elephants in the Fog," Deepak Rauniyar’s "White Sun," and Khyentse Norbu’s "The Cup." Additionally, the festival will showcase "All We Imagine as Light" by Indian director Payal Kapadia, alongside other international selections like "Ghost School." This initiative marks a new effort to integrate Nepali cinema into a broader international dialogue through high-quality screenings.
