Kazakhstan has successfully reimbursed 5.9 billion tenge to individuals impacted by digital fraud over the last few years. Official government data indicates a 40 percent reduction in online criminal activity during this period, alongside a nearly 30 percent improvement in case resolution rates. Key initiatives driving these results include the National Bank’s Anti-Fraud Center, which has prevented the loss of over 117 billion tenge by blocking suspicious transactions. Furthermore, the government has criminalized the role of money mules to disrupt illicit financial flows. To bolster security, authorities have elevated personal data protection to a constitutional mandate and implemented compulsory biometric authentication for accessing sensitive medical and financial records. These combined regulatory and technological efforts reflect the state's ongoing commitment to mitigating cybercrime risks for its citizens.
