The Nepal Red Cross Society has requested that the public contribute blood donations following a significant depletion of supplies. This shortage occurred because collection activities at the Central Blood Transfusion Service were paused during the extended Dashain festival holiday. Despite the lack of new donations, medical facilities continue to report a consistent daily increase in the demand for blood. Dr. Prakash Yadav, who heads the transfusion service, noted that current stocks are exhausted. Consequently, officials are calling upon individuals aged 18 and older, particularly those who have not donated in the past three months, to visit the center. Society President Dr. Bishalkumar Bhandari emphasized that the reduction in donation events during the festive season has created a critical supply challenge, necessitating immediate public support to maintain essential medical services for patients.
