Nepal has gained significant institutional knowledge and technical capacity through past initiatives like the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Program and systems managed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. Rather than focusing on creating additional standalone digital platforms for specific projects, the country should leverage its existing experience to evolve its disaster management infrastructure. The focus must shift away from developing redundant information portals toward building a more cohesive, integrated framework that enhances overall preparedness and response capabilities. By moving beyond project-based systems, Nepal can better utilize its accumulated expertise to address future challenges effectively. The current priority is to refine the next generation of disaster information systems to ensure they are functional, sustainable, and capable of supporting comprehensive risk management strategies across the nation.
