Professor Shaikh Shariful Alam, the recently appointed Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, gained access to his office on Monday morning by breaking a lock. This incident occurred while the campus was under a student-led complete shutdown. Arriving in a microbus, the Vice-Chancellor identified himself as a teacher at the main entrance before proceeding to the administration building. He was accompanied by several leaders from the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, including the unit's president, joint general secretary, and organizing secretary. Following the forced entry, the Vice-Chancellor was observed occupying his official chair. This development follows reports that the university administration has withheld salary payments for staff and faculty members during the ongoing period of unrest at the institution.
