Singapore and Indonesia have agreed to form a collaborative task force aimed at holding corporations responsible for forest fires. Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir and Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan announced the initiative during a joint press conference on October 27. The primary objective of this partnership is to enhance business accountability by tracking financial activities linked to these environmental incidents. The task force will focus on sharing intelligence, gathering evidence across borders, and facilitating potential asset recovery. Minister Nasir emphasized that since smoke travels across national boundaries, financial investigations must also be conducted internationally to effectively address the root causes of the haze. Minister Balakrishnan noted that the discussions were productive, underscoring the commitment of both nations to maintain open communication channels and strengthen bilateral cooperation regarding environmental governance and corporate responsibility.
