During a United Nations Security Council session focused on Iran's nuclear activities, Pakistan’s acting permanent representative, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, formally requested that both Washington and Tehran respect their obligations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Islamabad, which has previously acted as a diplomatic intermediary, expressed significant alarm regarding the rapid decline of the nuclear file and the potential for broader instability. Although Pakistan facilitated an interim peace deal between the two nations this past June, the agreement collapsed shortly thereafter due to renewed hostilities. Ambassador Jadoon emphasized that the current diplomatic impasse is hindering productive discussions within the Security Council and cautioned that any further military or political escalation could have severe consequences for both regional and international security.
