Singapore's Beverage Container Return Scheme is experiencing logistical difficulties as reverse vending machines frequently reach capacity, preventing residents from depositing recyclables. Users have reported that machines at locations like Maxwell and Whampoa food centers often signal they are full, particularly when individuals arrive with large quantities of containers. Additionally, some participants have raised concerns regarding unpleasant odors emanating from the units. In response to these complaints, the scheme operator, BCRS Ltd., stated that maintenance and cleaning protocols are in place, with every machine receiving attention at least once every 24 hours. The high volume of participation has led to queues and frustration among those attempting to utilize the recycling infrastructure.
