The South Korean Unification Ministry announced on Monday that it is ready to supply critical medical gear to a hospital located in Pyongyang. Spokesperson Yoon Min-ho confirmed that the government secured a sanctions waiver from the United Nations Security Council this past May. This authorization covers 166 distinct categories of medical equipment intended for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic use at the Kangdong County Hospital. The facility, which began operations in November, remains the designated recipient of this aid, provided that North Korean authorities consent to the transfer. This initiative proceeds despite the ongoing diplomatic friction between the two nations, as Seoul continues its efforts to facilitate humanitarian support for the North Korean healthcare sector.
