Basilan Vice Governor Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman has characterized the recent discovery of pre-marked ballots in Maluso as a deliberate effort to obstruct the Bangsamoro region's pursuit of stability and autonomy. The incident, which occurred during the inaugural parliamentary elections for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, involved 36 out of 68 precincts. Hataman warned that these actions could be intended to damage the reputation of the Bangsamoro Federalist Party. In response to the discovery, the Commission on Elections placed the municipality under its direct control. Chairman George Erwin Garcia mandated the urgent reprinting of ballots for the impacted areas, which caused significant voting delays as officials worked to replace the compromised materials. Authorities are currently addressing the situation to ensure the integrity of the electoral process remains intact despite these attempts at interference.
