An unidentified person has been caught posing as Jameel Altheyabi, the editor-in-chief of the Saudi newspaper Okaz, to reach out to prominent Yemeni political and military figures. Utilizing a German phone number and Altheyabi’s photograph on WhatsApp, the perpetrator attempted to initiate communication with the offices of the Presidential Leadership Council Chairman, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, and Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Al-Mahrami. The fraud was detected after these offices contacted the newspaper to verify the identity of the individual, who had sent a suspicious link under the guise of connecting them with an Okaz staff member. This incident has prompted concerns regarding potential cyber fraud and security breaches targeting senior officials. Okaz has confirmed the impersonation attempt, highlighting the risks associated with such deceptive digital activities.
