According to reports from two American officials, Washington is instead prioritizing the provision of intelligence and targeting assistance to Saudi Arabia. While the current stance avoids direct intervention, officials noted that this policy remains subject to change should threats against maritime traffic in the Red Sea escalate. Recent diplomatic efforts include a visit to Saudi Arabia by Admiral Brad Cooper of the US Central Command and discussions between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Donald Trump. During these exchanges, the Saudi leadership advocated for increased American military involvement, although it was not presented as an absolute necessity. The US maintains that its primary objective remains the protection of its core national security interests in the region.
