A gang of ten to twelve masked individuals carried out a series of robberies on the EidgaonâEidgarhâBaishari road in Coxâs Bazar on Monday. The assailants targeted approximately 50 to 60 vehicles, primarily motorcycles and CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, during daylight hours. Over 100 passengers were threatened at gunpoint and forced into a nearby forest, where they were physically assaulted and stripped of their cash, mobile devices, and personal items. Victims reported that the criminal activity persisted for several hours without any intervention from law enforcement. As of Monday evening, local authorities had not apprehended any suspects involved in these multiple incidents. The lack of police patrols in the hilly region has raised concerns among commuters regarding safety on this transport route.
