The government of Bangladesh has formally requested an explanation from the Saudi Arabian ambassador in Dhaka concerning the recent execution of two Bangladeshi citizens in Mecca. Officials expressed concern over the lack of prior notification, noting that international standards typically require host nations to inform a country before its citizens face trial or capital punishment. Mohammad Nazrul Islam, the Foreign Ministry's secretary for bilateral affairs, held a thirty-minute meeting with Ambassador Abdullah ibn Dhafer ibn Ubayya at the Padma state guesthouse to address the matter. While the ministry confirmed that the discussion covered both bilateral relations and the recent deaths, specific details regarding the Saudi response remain undisclosed. The government is currently investigating why established notification protocols were apparently bypassed in this instance.
