Individuals recently deported from the United States to Cameroon are encountering significant difficulties, including the loss of legal status and an unclear path forward. Reports indicate that the U.S. government utilized a combination of financial incentives, totaling millions of dollars, alongside threats regarding visa restrictions to pressure nations into participating in these deportation initiatives. This coercive approach has left those returned to Cameroon in a precarious position, struggling to navigate their new reality without stable documentation or clear prospects for their future. The situation highlights the broader implications of American immigration enforcement policies on the lives of those impacted by these international agreements.
