Four Chinese citizens appeared before the Balik Pulau Sessions Court to face charges related to the abduction of a Singaporean national. The defendants, identified as Liu Ting Jun, Huang Jian, Wang Hao Yu, and Guan Siqi, entered pleas of not guilty to the accusations. Prosecutors allege that the group, alongside two deceased individuals and two others currently evading authorities, kidnapped Quek Aik Teng at Penang International Airport on July 26. The victim was reportedly held for a ransom demand of SGD 1 million, equivalent to approximately RM 3.28 million. The charges are brought under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961. If convicted, the accused face potential sentences ranging from 30 to 40 years in prison, in addition to mandatory caning.
