A Holocaust survivor has voiced deep alarm following the electoral success of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt. The recent victory marks a significant political milestone, as it brings a far-right organization closer to regional governance than at any point since the period following the First World War. This development has triggered widespread concern regarding the potential influence of the party on German state politics. The survivor's reaction highlights the historical anxieties surrounding the rise of nationalist movements within the country. As the AfD secures this unprecedented position, observers are closely monitoring the implications for the regional political landscape and the broader democratic stability of Germany.
