The Cycling Association of Hong Kong, China has issued a formal apology following a navigation error during the recent 32km Hong Kong Cyclothon. Organisers confirmed that the lead vehicle inadvertently diverted participants away from the planned route across the Ting Kau Bridge. This mistake occurred after the pilot car adjusted its path to accommodate an emergency lane for ambulances attending to two cyclists involved in an accident. Consequently, participants in the 32km category were unable to complete the intended course, missing the scenic views associated with the bridge section. The association expressed regret for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the deviation from the original race path.
