Law enforcement officials in the North Kazakhstan Region have reported fourteen instances of digital fraud targeting messaging application users. The scam typically begins with a deceptive request to vote for a child in a competition, sent from a compromised account belonging to a known contact. Users who click the provided link risk losing control of their own accounts. Once the perpetrators gain unauthorized access, they impersonate the victim to solicit urgent financial assistance from the individual's contact list. These fraudulent messages often request specific sums of money, such as 80,000 tenge, under the guise of a temporary loan. Authorities are advising citizens to exercise caution when interacting with suspicious links sent via messaging platforms to prevent account hijacking and subsequent financial loss.
