Following the tragic killing of nineteen youths on September 8, 2025, Nepal experienced widespread civil unrest that decimated key government institutions, including the legislature, judiciary, and executive branches. The subsequent violence, captured extensively on social media, also targeted private enterprises and educational facilities. This period of instability, often referred to as the September Storm, ultimately facilitated the rise of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s RSP party. However, the administration has faced significant challenges over the past six months, ranging from internal party friction to external fuel shortages and the Trisuli Valley tragedy. Today, the charred remains of major state buildings serve as stark reminders of the ongoing administrative dysfunction and the lack of accountability that persists one year after the riots. While reconstruction efforts for the Parliament and Supreme Court are underway, the nation continues to navigate the long-term consequences of this destructive period.
