The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Saudi Arabia has issued a recommendation for residents to equip their homes with gas leak detection devices. This initiative aims to reduce the risk of accidental fires and safeguard both individuals and property. In the event of a suspected leak, the authority advises against operating electrical switches or any potential ignition sources. Instead, residents should secure gas valves, ensure proper ventilation by opening doors and windows, and leave the building immediately. The directorate also highlighted the importance of following official safety instructions shared across media platforms. For emergency assistance, citizens and residents can reach out to 911 in the Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, and Eastern regions, while 998 remains the contact number for all other parts of the Kingdom.
