Indonesian authorities have launched a search and rescue mission for eight individuals who disappeared while traveling toward the active Anak Krakatau volcano. The group, which departed from Pagedongan Pier in Banten province on Monday, includes five media professionals, two boat crew members, and a local guide. The journalists involved represent several organizations, including Antara, Merdeka.com, iNews, and Anadolu Agency, alongside a freelance photographer. Communication with the speedboat was severed as they navigated the Sunda Strait to document the ongoing volcanic eruption. Officials confirmed that the last contact with the vessel occurred shortly after their departure. Rescue teams are currently working to locate the missing persons in the waters between Java and Sumatra.
