A 60-year-old Singaporean secretary identified as Wu has reported a financial loss of S$140,000 following her participation in a fraudulent investment operation based in China. The victim was initially introduced to the so-called Nanning Project by a colleague, eventually investing an additional S$50,000 into an apartment complex located in Fangchenggang. Organizers of the scheme reportedly cultivated an atmosphere of exclusivity by framing the venture as a confidential project with significant growth potential, while vetting potential participants based on their professional backgrounds. This case is part of a broader investigation involving 52 Singaporean nationals who have been apprehended in connection with these illicit activities in Guangxi. Wu stated that the funds she contributed are currently unrecoverable, highlighting the risks associated with such deceptive investment traps that target individuals with promises of high returns.
