The Sri Lanka Navy has finalized the recovery of Fast Attack Craft P 4447, which encountered difficulties while patrolling near Angulana on August 15, 2026. Following an initial search and rescue mission that saved 11 crew members with the assistance of the Air Force, Police, and local fishing community, the operation concluded its human recovery phase on September 4 with the retrieval of the Second in Command's remains. Subsequently, naval engineering and diving teams executed a complex salvage operation to raise the vessel from a depth of 80 feet. The craft was successfully lifted on September 11 and transported to the Colombo Dockyard for further assessment. Authorities characterized the recovery as a significant technical accomplishment achieved through inter-departmental coordination.
