Authorities in Syangja have taken 42-year-old Bal Singh Gurung into custody following a seven-year period as a fugitive. Gurung, a resident of Phedikhola Rural Municipality, had been evading law enforcement since his conviction related to a polygamy charge. Local police officers from the Phedikhola post successfully located and detained him on October 24. Subsequently, he appeared before the Syangja District Court on October 26 to finalize legal requirements. The court has now remanded him to the Syangja Prison Office to complete a one-year jail term and settle a fine of Rs 5,000, as originally mandated by the judicial ruling issued in April 2019.
