Hostilities between Iran and the United States have intensified following the destruction of five Iranian oil tankers by American forces. In retaliation, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards launched missile strikes against the al-Azraq air base in Jordan, while also claiming to have attacked U.S. naval vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. Jordan’s military reported intercepting 18 missiles during the assault. The ongoing conflict has effectively paralyzed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route for global energy supplies, causing oil prices to surge to $100 per barrel. Tehran has further threatened to target commercial tankers near Kuwait and Bahrain. Meanwhile, the U.S. maintains that its actions are defensive responses to Iranian aggression against its warships. The situation remains volatile as both nations continue to exchange military threats and engage in direct confrontations across the Middle East.
