A fire aboard a foreign-registered cargo ship docked in the Chinese port of Qingdao has resulted in the deaths of 25 individuals. State media reports indicate that the incident occurred on Thursday morning while the vessel was moored at the eastern shipping hub. At the time the blaze began, there were 42 people on board. Emergency responders managed to evacuate 17 individuals, five of whom sustained injuries. Although rescue teams initially reported several people missing, authorities confirmed by Thursday evening that all 25 unaccounted-for individuals had been located deceased. According to CCTV, the fire was successfully brought under control and extinguished by mid-afternoon. The vessel was identified as a bulk carrier, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the event are ongoing.
