A scheduled round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, initially planned for Rome next week, has been deferred until October. According to a US official, representatives from both nations will instead convene at the State Department in Washington to review the ongoing implementation of the June framework agreement. The postponement is attributed to logistical challenges, including upcoming Jewish holidays, the UN General Assembly, and a conference in Paris regarding the Lebanese Armed Forces. Since April, the two countries have engaged in seven rounds of direct talks aimed at establishing a gradual Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories in exchange for Lebanese military deployment. Despite these efforts, the Lebanese army recently reported thousands of Israeli violations of the existing framework, while Hezbollah continues to oppose the diplomatic process. Neither Israel nor Lebanon has issued an official statement regarding the change in venue.
