The Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies and the Higher School of Economics recently hosted a collaborative forum in Uzbekistan to address climate change and water scarcity. Government officials, researchers, and financial experts from both nations examined how environmental shifts impact agriculture, trade, and overall economic stability. Key topics included the expansion of renewable energy, the adoption of electric vehicles, and the implementation of low-carbon industrial technologies. Alisher Salomov of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change emphasized the necessity of a structured, systemic approach to economic adaptation. Moving forward, the participants agreed to strengthen cooperation through enhanced data sharing, improved climate forecasting, and the development of sector-specific recommendations. This joint initiative aims to bolster energy security and national competitiveness while mitigating the socio-economic challenges posed by environmental degradation.
