The Federal Constitutional Court has scheduled a hearing for September 14 to address a petition contesting the election of Sohail Afridi as the Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A three-judge panel, led by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan and including Justices Aamer Farooq and Ali Baqar Najafi, will preside over the matter. The legal challenge was initiated by Sher Afzal Marwat, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, who advocates for the reinstatement of Ali Amin Gandapur. The petitioner argues that Afridi’s nomination by the imprisoned Imran Khan was legally invalid due to Khan's current conviction status. Consequently, the petition claims the election process violated constitutional standards and requests the court to review the validity of resignation documents submitted by Gandapur last October.
