The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a downward trend on Thursday, shedding 13.85 points to finish at 2,531. This follows a loss of 15.43 points observed in the previous session. Market activity also saw a contraction, with total turnover decreasing to Rs 3.99 billion from the Rs 4.19 billion reported on Wednesday. Market breadth was negative, as shares of 201 companies saw their values drop, while only 69 companies managed to post gains. Eight companies remained stable. The manufacturing and processing industry led the decline with a 1.14 percent drop, while all other sectors recorded losses of less than 1 percent. Notable declines were seen in the banking, finance, and insurance sectors, reflecting a broad-based retreat across the domestic equity market.
