Syria's representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olaibi, has formally denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent excursion to military units stationed on Mount Hermon. Damascus views this entry into Syrian territory as a direct violation of its national sovereignty and established international legal frameworks. During a press briefing at the UN headquarters, accompanied by delegates from the Arab Group and the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation, Olaibi emphasized that territorial integrity remains a fundamental requirement for global stability. He argued that such incursions threaten the peace and order maintained by the UN Charter and the 1974 disengagement agreement. The Syrian government maintains that its borders are non-negotiable and has called for an end to what it characterizes as persistent Israeli military presence and unauthorized operations within its sovereign lands.
