The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that a supertanker sustained damage to its engine room after hitting a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the IRGC, the vessel was navigating the critical maritime passage with its tracking systems deactivated. This incident marks the third such collision involving naval mines in the area since Saturday. Iranian authorities did not disclose the name, origin, or flag of the affected ship. The IRGC reiterated its policy of labeling any vessel that disables its navigation equipment while transiting the strait as a hostile entity. This report follows recent concerns raised by the United States Central Command regarding the security of international shipping lanes within the region.
